Press Release
United Way Campaign Concludes

Dayton, OH, Tuesday, March 17, 2009
- United Way of the Greater Dayton Area announced today that the 2008 United Way campaign raised $9.5 million. That figure represents 79% of the $12 million goal set by the Board last summer. The Road to Recovery effort brought in nearly $86,000 towards the total. Both the aggressive goal and the Road to Recovery effort were undertaken to ensure that no stone was left unturned to raise the maximum dollars needed to meet the increased demand for services at the United Way Partner Agencies.

Board Chairman Gary Auman called the figure a significant accomplishment. "We are disappointed with the outcome, but proud of our efforts and the people who were willing to share what they are fortunate to have with their neighbors during these tough economic times," Auman said. Auman noted the overall campaign and Road to Recovery results would not have been possible without the tremendous, unwavering leadership of Campaign Chair Robert Curry and the dedicated efforts of many volunteers. He also thanked the hundreds of companies and the thousands of contributors who supported this year's campaign.
